This new workshop explores bonding techniques using beautiful fibres and soft nets. You will begin by colouring your fabric, allowing you to create a unique base for your designs. Next, you’ll explore layering different materials to build texture and depth, experimenting with various techniques to create a rich, tactile surface. The workshop will then guide you through adding delicate floral stitched details, bringing your pieces to life with intricate embellishments. By the end of the session, you will have created a set of beautiful, textured pieces, each showcasing your exploration of bonding and stitch techniques.

This workshop is designed to encourage exploration and creativity, with less focus on a finished product and more emphasis on the process of 'freeing up and exploring'. It’s an opportunity to push the boundaries of soft materials and techniques, allowing you to experiment and discover new ways to build up layers with both paint and stitch.
Begin with working with delicate fabrics, where you will explore building texture and create exciting, tactile backgrounds. These subtle, stitched backgrounds will then serve as a base for applying print and colour, allowing you to play with different hues and marks to develop a unique set of surfaces. Once your backgrounds are established, you’ll explore decorative embellishment, adding layers of depth with contrasting tactile stitch. The focus will be on experimentation and freeing up your approach to embroidery, backgrounds and fabrics. By the end of the session, you’ll have a selection of exciting, textured samples that can be mounted or framed. A perfect way to bring fresh ideas and techniques into your own creative practice. |
In this new workshop, you’ll explore texture by creating a mixed media meadow landscapes using a variety of techniques. The focus is on contemporary texture and building tactile layers. Whether you choose to create a detailed meadow scene or a more abstract design, you’ll start by building a heavily textured surface with stitch and applique. Once your base is established, we’ll add colour to create depth. I will then share my embroidery techniques and a range of methods for surface decoration, helping you apply the final details and enhance the beauty of your meadow landscapes.
